Help Us Build a clinic

Since 2020, we have made tremendous progress in creating a comfortable, clean, and safe environment for children and adults to receive dental care at Emmanuel Children’s Center of Bombardopolis, Haiti. For now, our dental space is located inside the guest house where mission teams stay. We have designated one area as a dental clinic and converted a large closet into storage for supplies. While we are grateful for what we’ve been able to build within this space, our long-term dream is to construct a dedicated 800 sq. ft. dental clinic.

This new clinic would allow us to establish a proper sterilization area, a protected X-ray room, and a large workspace where all three dental chair units can operate at once. With a permanent clinic, we could also welcome volunteers and Haitian dental professionals to provide services to the community for a small fee—greatly expanding access to care beyond what is currently possible. Although Emmanuel has many other pressing needs, we feel strongly led to open this partnership opportunity so we can one day offer year-round dental care to the wider community.

The cost of building in Haiti is currently at a record high. Inflation and the limited availability of local materials mean this will be a long-term project requiring patience and significant resources. We pray that those who share our passion for dental health will help us spread the word and come alongside us to make this vision of a permanent dental clinic a reality.

Take a trip down memory lane with us and see how God has faithfully provided the tools, equipment, and electricity needed to continue our mission. Each year, we have progressed little by little—upgrading our equipment, improving our ergonomics, and adding better lighting. We are deeply grateful for how far we’ve come, and we look forward to the day we can add a permanent dental clinic to our timeline.

A saddle stool, a comfortable adjustable patient chair, a new dental unit, and a water distiller—each addition brings us closer to creating a welcoming, functional space where dental professionals can provide both preventive and restorative care.

2025

With the flexibility to move our dental setup outside during the hot months, we’ve created a space where the children love to gather—watching the work being done and even trying to sneak in a little iPad time.

2024

We are now fully solar powered! Our portable chair units make it possible to work outside and enjoy the breeze during the hot months. And the kids absolutely love watching movies on the iPad during their appointments!

2023

We now have three adjustable dental chairs with fully functioning units—an incredible blessing that allows us to work ergonomically and efficiently. With reliable equipment, multiple clinicians can provide care at the same time, greatly increasing our ability to serve.

2022

Improving ergonomics became a priority this year. We converted a table into a flat treatment bed and began using a new portable unit along with portable suction. This was also the year we introduced DryShield, which made completing sealants much more efficient.

2021

We worked with zero-gravity chairs and a single portable dental unit for the dentist—one that often overheated. The hygienist relied on a cordless polisher and toothbrushes, and the children rinsed and spit into cups. Humble beginnings, but filled with determination and heart.

2020

Stand-up screenings and fluoride varnish applications took place in a dark room—thankfully, she brought a headlamp! This visit offered the first glimpse into just how significant the dental needs were for our children at Emmanuel.
