Extracurricular Activities
One of our commitments at the orphanage is to ensure that every child is equipped with the tools they need to step confidently into the world. We believe deeply in the power of education and in teaching lifelong skills that open doors and create opportunity.
We continue to teach the children languages, music, sewing, and practical trades such as telecommunications, solar energy, welding, and more. These programs have been made possible through the faithful support of our monthly sponsors, and we are truly grateful.
To help us continue providing these enriching opportunities, we invite you to consider making a one-time donation or becoming a monthly sponsor. Your support will directly fund our ongoing music and language classes, empowering these children with skills that last a lifetime.
English & Spanish Classes
We began our twice-weekly language classes in 2020, and they have become a cherished part of our children’s education. Our English and Spanish teacher, Johncy, faithfully comes twice a week, spending one hour each day with the children, helping them build confidence and skill in both languages. We have loved watching the kids practice what they’ve learned with visiting missionaries, and several have developed a true passion for learning a second—and even a third—language, with dreams of studying abroad after graduation. We are deeply grateful to our supporters and sponsors whose generosity continues to make these classes possible.
Academic Tutoring
In 2021, we were able to hire a local teacher to support the children with homework and after-school tutoring. Unfortunately, due to budget limitations, we have not been able to continue this much-needed program. With so many children, it is incredibly difficult for our caregivers to keep up with the academic demands, and we truly hope to reinstate these tutoring sessions soon.
We believe these classes are essential in providing our children with the tools they need for a successful school year, and we remain committed to bringing this support back as soon as possible.
Music Lessons
We are so grateful for the musical instruments that have been donated; the children have put them to incredible use. If you feel led to contribute toward the purchase of additional instruments—or if you have instruments in excellent working condition—we would be overjoyed to give them a new home at the orphanage.
Some of our older kids have discovered a real passion for music. For the past couple of years, they have been taking weekly lessons at the orphanage—and their dedication has truly paid off. Not only do they play during daily devotions, but many of them now serve as part of the worship team at church.
Sewing Classes
For several years, with the support of MCPH from France, we were able to offer the children the opportunity to learn the valuable skill of sewing. We shipped materials and equipment to help them get started, but unfortunately, financial limitations forced us to discontinue the program. With your support, we would love to bring sewing classes back. This skill not only empowers the children to meet their own needs, but also provides them with a potential source of income once they leave the orphanage.
Technology Education
In 2020, we had the pleasure of hosting a network cabling class for all the children at the orphanage, led by Frankie and an engineer from Port-de-Paix. Since then, Frankie has continued teaching the older boys the ins and outs of telecom engineering. Stervenson has become especially skilled—now able to sustain nearly the entire telecom project on his own.
This initiative has been a tremendous blessing to both the ministry and the community, providing access to telecommunications that was once extremely limited. It has opened doors, created opportunities, and given our youth a valuable skill set for their future.
