“When we equip young people with skills, confidence, and opportunity, we are not just teaching a trade—we are helping them step into the future God has prepared for them.”

Over the past few years, we have had the opportunity to teach and train the older boys at our orphanage in a variety of practical skills, including welding, electrical work, mechanics, solar, information technology, languages, music, and driving. We have witnessed firsthand the positive impact these skills have had on our children—building confidence, independence, and real pathways to future employment.

Because of this impact, we feel a strong calling to extend these same opportunities to other youth in our community. We are blessed to already have a building structure that could serve as a trade school, and it is our hope to one day restore and equip it to provide formal vocational training for the community.

  • Mechanics

While we are grateful for our one reliable truck, the harsh roads, dust, and terrain in our area cause frequent wear and tear on vehicles. With no full-service auto shops nearby, our team has learned to repair and maintain vehicles themselves. Over time, we’ve trained our older boys in basic mechanics—equipping them with practical skills that not only meet immediate needs but also open doors to future job opportunities.

  • Welding

We have had a lot of projects at the orphanage that had involved welding. Our boys not only had the opportunity to learn the safety involving welding but got hands on experience with it too. There are no current trade schools for welding, our program will be the first to offer the knowledge and skillset for individuals to learn about this trade and how to make a career out of it.

  • Intro to WIFI

Located in a remote mountain region of Haiti, reliable internet access has long been a challenge. In 2020, Frankie began bringing internet service to Northwest Haiti, giving our boys hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting connectivity across the region. As this program continues to grow, it creates opportunities to train more youth in technical skills and provide future employment for our graduating students.

  • Software Engineering

In 2018, a missionary installed computers at our school, many of which are no longer functioning. We see this as a hands-on opportunity to teach students computer diagnostics and basic technology skills by learning how to take devices apart and repair them. This will be a practical and engaging part of our Trade School for students interested in computers.

  • Beginners Robotics

What started as a fun activity quickly became a hands-on learning experience, as the boys used their knowledge of solar and electronics to make small robots work. By introducing robotics into our Trade School, we can expand opportunities for our graduates while preparing locally trained experts to support the growing need for solar power maintenance in Haiti.

  • Electrical Wiring

What could have been a serious setback became a powerful learning opportunity when faulty wiring in our mission house needed urgent repair. Under proper guidance, our older boys learned electrical safety and hands-on skills, working long hours to install new wiring, lighting, and switches—bringing reliable power to the home and supporting dental mission work. Experiences like this have sparked interest in electrical engineering among students like Berclay and strengthened our desire to offer more opportunities to learn this vital trade.
