During the last few years we have had the opportunity to teach and train the older boys at the orphanage on different skills such as welding, electrical, mechanical, solar, information technology, languages, music and driving. As we witnessed first-hand the positive impact that these skills have had on our children at our orphanage, we feel compelled to be able to do the same for other children in the community.
We are blessed by already having a building structure that can be used for a trade school and it is our hope to one day be able to restore and equip it to provide an official trade school to the community. |

MechanicsWhile we have been blessed to have one faithful truck at the orphanage, we have had many vehicles that needed extensive repairs. Due to the harsh conditions, rocky roads and dust our cars endure a lot of wear and tear. There is no full service automatic shop in our area of Haiti, so when something is broken, you must find a way to fix it. Over the years we have taught our boys at the orphanage how to not only maintain the vehicles but how to diagnose issues as they arise. We feel mechanics will not only be a valuable tool for men and women for personal gain but also to expand job opportunities.

WeldingWe have had a lot of projects at the orphanage that had involved welding. Our boys not only had the opportunity to learn the safety involving welding but got hands on experience with it too. There are no current trade schools for welding, our program will be the first to offer the knowledge and skillset for individuals to learn about this trade and how to make a career out of it.

Introduction to WifiWe are located in a remote mountain region of Haiti, as you can imagine...reception is not always the most reliable. In 2020 Frankie initiated his long time vision of bringing internet to Northwest Haiti. Through traveling all over the region to set up towers, activate customers and diagnose issues as they arise, our boys at the orphanage have had a front row seat in learning the ins and outs of internet. As our internet business is quickly growing, we will need more staff. This project will give us an opportunity to teach other interested minds about internet, in return hopefully creating more job opportunities for our soon to be graduates at the school.

Software EngineeringIn 2018 a missionary came to the orphanage to install computers for our school. Over the years they have slowed down and completely stopped working. We would like to use this opportunity to teach students about technology and computer diagnostics. Sometimes the best way to learn is by taking things apart and putting them back together. This will be a fun and educational experience in our Trade School for those interested in computers.

Beginners RoboticsWhat was meant to be just a fun activity for the older boys, turned into an educational project as they followed directions and had to use their knowledge of solar and electronics to make these little robots work. We believe by implementing robotics in our Trade School it will open up the number of opportunities for our graduates. Solar power is also becoming more of a necessity in Haiti with missionaries and organizations. By having a locally trained expert in the community it will be beneficial for those that may experience issues or need maintenance for their solar system.

Electrical Wiring
The blessing of our mission house almost catching fire due to faulty electrical wire, was that it gave our older boys the opportunity to learn the safety and skills needed to properly repair electricity. Many people may be scared of dealing with electrical wires, but when trained by the right person it can be safely done and make a huge impact. Our boys worked hard and long hours installing new electrical wiring, over head lights, and wall switches so our missionaries could have light at a flip of the switch. Their work has also successfully powered dental missions in that house. Berclay, who lives at the orphanage, is one of many that want to explore electrical engineering after graduation. This was a great introduction to it and we hope to provide more opportunities for our students to learn this trade.
