Each year there are so many children in our community whose only wish is to be able to attend school. Unfortunately, due to the severe poverty our community faces, this wish never comes true. As Haiti is facing one of the most challenging times in history, parents have not been able to generate an income to pay for their child's education. Many parents in our community sell goods at the local market or make charcoal for a living, that is how they provide for their family. There has been a drastic increase in lack of goods available to sell, directly affecting those that rely on selling as a means of income.
For the parents that are able to pay for their child's education, sometimes that means sacrificing meals for the family. Far too often children come to school with a growling stomach. In some cases, they walk over to our orphanage and ask missionaries for food. We provide one meal during the school day for every child, regardless if they have paid their balance. For some, this might be the only meal they receive that day. We would like extend the opportunity for those who would like to give the gift of education to a child in need through a one time or monthly sponsorship. Your sponsorship will help alleviate some of that stress these parents face while providing an education for a child that wants to learn. To protect the privacy of our families in need of assistance, we will not be sharing personal information and photos of the children. If you find it in your heart to sponsor a child from the community, your donation will 100% go towards their 2024-2025 tuition fees. |
